Top 7 Shoes For People On Their Feet
1. Hoka One One Clifton 7
Hoka One One have started an uber-soft, high-cushioned shoe movement. Hoka is one of the top selling franchises as well as one of the leading running brands in the world, and the Clifton 7’s recent update has not disappointed. Hoka maintained the Clifton 6’s proven midsole & outsole but modernized and updated the upper to give you a better fit across the top of your foot. End result: a comfortable shoe for someone who is going to be on their feet for 12 or more straight hours. We hear from our customers almost daily that they just aren’t as sore as they used to be after a long day on their feet after wearing Hoka shoes. Click here to buy in our web-store. Men | Women
2. Brooks Glycerin 18
When people try on Brooks shoes in our store, they say this model feels like it was made just for them. With an adaptive fit (thin: it conforms to the shape of your foot and your stride) this is a no-brainer. If the shoe is good enough to be worn for the most demanding runs, it will be great for walking and standing, too. The Glycerin has Brooks’ premium foam called DNA Loft running the full length of the shoe rather than just the heel. Click here to buy in our web-store. Men | Women
3. Hoka One One Bondi 6
The big sibling to the aforementioned Clifton 7, the Bondi 6 is a max cushion shoe that is great for the long-haul on your feet. Hoka wisely blended rubber into the midsole to produce their R-Mat Foam which gives heavier folks a little more midsole resilience and durability. Two important things to those who haven’t worn Hoka’s before: they are far lighter than they look AND you’re not standing on all that foam… You’re standing IN that foam. It wraps around the foot like a hotdog bun to provide some side-to-side stability and basically cradles the foot. Their meta-rocker helps your feet roll forward while walking and running. Aside from distance runners, these shoes have a fanatic following among nurses, doctors, and people who work at home improvement stores who walk on concrete all day. 4. Diadora Mythos Blushield 5
We hear it a lot– “Who are these guys? Diadora? Don’t they make soccer and tennis stuff?” True, they do. Diadora have made headway in the running market since they re-emerged in the US and began focusing on running in 2017. We’ve seen these popping up into more and more running stores and when you try them on, you’ll feel exactly why. Make no mistake about it– Diadora wants their shoes to be premium soft. They do this by incorporating their Blushield technology under your foot throughout the entire length of their shoes. Think of Blushield as dozens of independent cushioning pods that work together to give you a superbly soft feeling all day. Click here to buy in our web-store. Men | Women
5. Altra Torin 4.5 Plush
Those who know, know; once you’ve experienced these, you’ll “get it.” Unlike anything else on the market, Altra have carved out a growing niche among people who have sore feet. They are shaped like your foot. Imagine you put your foot on a piece of paper and trace around the outside of it– that’s the shape of the sole! Also, the level cushioning from heel-to-toe is unique. That means the shoe keeps your heel and forefoot the same height off the ground which helps keep a person’s hips in a more aligned position. While these take some getting used to, and some people with extremely narrow feet might not like them, you should at least try these. The softness will surprise you and your feet will be allowed to “wake up.” You’ll feel it. These are also great for those with wide feet and bunions.
6. Hoka One One Carbon X
We know, some shoe aficionados will snark at us for putting Hoka’s performance running shoe on the list, but hear us out. Yes, the Carbon X is lightning fast and was worn for the 50-mile world record, but people who are on their feet all day can benefit from it, too. Here’s why: the curvature of the sole is so aggressive (look below, see how the bottom is like a rocking chair?) that it helps those wearing it by providing a mechanical advantage. In short: curved sole + low drop = your hips go forward. Hips forward = less anterior tilt = using your glutes more when you walk and run. People who’s bum sticks out behind them, or who have tight hips can benefit from these shoes. A $180 investment is steep but worth it to be comfortable! Also, most of our staff train in these shoes for running as well. Click here to buy in our web-store. Men | Women
7. Brooks Ghost 13
Referred to as the “Ghost,” this shoe is known as one of the top running shoes in the US. Typically each year more Brooks Ghost are sold in running stores like ours than any other shoe. The Ghost 13 is a great update. It provides the “Goldilocks” amount of cushioning and can be worn for long periods of time. It has soft touch points and we’ve noticed in our store that people will say “ooooh” as soon as they slide their foot into one. The Ghost is a go-to shoe for walking or standing all day.
