Got Wide Feet?
One of the most common phrases we hear at St. Pete Running Company is, “I have wide feet.” This generalization doesn’t always mean the person requires Wide (or D-width) running or walking shoes. Sometimes a person who measures as a B-width (average width for most people) will still say they have wide feet.
Our expert staff will measure each person who comes in for a StrideSmart Shoe Fitting to confirm the length and width of the foot, but there is a small minority who measures as a Wide (D-width).
Here is what “I have wide feet” usually means: I like wide toe box running shoes.
Many running brands understand that runners and walkers have different preferences when it comes to the amount of space in the toe box, so there are a variety of wide toe box running shoes across brands. Where a Wide shoe would be too much room for many walkers and runners, these extra roomy regular-width models are a great option for those who like space in the toe box.
3 Wide Toe Box Running Shoes
- HOKA ONE ONE BONDI – This running and/or walking shoe has maximal cushioning, which means it is loaded with a soft foam that allows the shoe to remain lighter while providing some of the highest levels of cushion found in any type of running shoe. The toe box in this shoe is nice and roomy.
- DIADORA MYTHOS BLUSHIELD – The molding of this shoe forms to the anatomy of the foot and still allows for extra room in the toe box. The high level of cushion in these shoes is also a type of foam that is soft while remaining responsive.
- BROOKS GHOST – This shoe has an incredible balance of smooth ride with a soft landing thanks to a plush cushioning system that levels out the heel-to-toe transition. The upper allows for a glove-like fit that opens into a toe box with extra room.
