Welcome Diadora Cellula Running Shoes
A Shoe Review by Bria Burton
Never heard of Diadora? Then allow us to introduce you to this amazing running shoe brand. The Italian-based company joined the U.S. running shoe market in 2009, and their running shoes are continually becoming shoe wall staples across the nation. We’ve seen a drastic increase in demand for Diadora running shoes in recent years, and the upward trajectory is not slowing down.
With the introduction of their brand new shoe model Cellula (pronounced chell-you-la), Diadora is taking a journey through the avenues of high-level cushioning, even taking it places we’ve never seen before. At St. Pete Running Company, we’re excited to share the scoop about this shoe with you. I’ve done some sampling of the new shoe by getting my feet inside a pair. Here’s what you can expect from this new running shoe model, and how to find out if it’s going to become your new favorite shoe.
How Does the Cellula Feel?
One of the highest compliments that I can give any running shoe is the instant gratification effect. That’s what happened when my foot sank blissfully into this new running shoe. Stars aligned and my feet felt instantly gratified. The comfort level is very high, reflective of the high cushioning level in this shoe. When comparing this model to max cushioning shoes like Hoka One One Bondi, the Cellula stands a cut above for me personally. That doesn’t mean this is shoe will work for everyone and another model won’t. What it does mean is that this shoe is personally meeting all the criteria for best running shoes in my book.
With this shoe model, Diadora is introducing what they call “the Fluid Run,” and when I jumped onto the treadmill, the focus of my run quickly shifted from the shoe itself to honing in on my running form. It took almost no time for the shoes to simply fade into the background. That’s what I want in a running shoe. Forget my feet and get on with the run.
What Are the Benefits of the Cellula?
Some of the highlights of Diadora Cellula running shoes and some of my favorite features include:
- Classic Diadora fit and feel with extra room in the toe box
- Excellent balance between softness and firmness level
- High comfort level all around
- Stacked with lower drop at 5mm allows for added structural stability in a neutral shoe
- Lighter weight shoe at 9.7 ounces
- The ride of the shoe is smooth and seamless
Are There Any Downsides to this Running Shoe?
We’ve explored the benefits of the shoes. What about the cons? I noted two.
CON:
- May need to size up as the shoe might fit just right for some, but could be slightly small for others
- The unique tongue shape could be distracting for some people
Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down?
Overall, I give these shoes two very enthusiastic thumbs up. I went striding into “the Fluid Run” moniker with an ease that made me purchase ready. For those who want to check out these new running shoes, we have them in store!
