New Footwear At St. Pete Running Company
Spring is here and with running season in full-blast in St. Pete, it’s a great time to freshen up your running supplies. Just in time, several new models have just updated. Here’s a quick look at what just arrived. As always, we offer our unique StrideSmart Fit Process to get you in the perfect shoes and also make sure you’re running efficiently.
Hoka One One Carbon X 2
The wildly popular Hoka Carbon X has updated to the Carbon X 2. You can expect the cushioning you typically get from Hoka Running Shoes but with a little extra. This type of shoe has some serious propulsion thanks to a carbon fiber plate. Runners can expect to experience slightly faster times with the same effort. Also, for many, the curvature of the sole helps brings your hips into a more neutral, forward position which is great for glute engagement.
Brooks Launch 8
Brooks Launch is like a no-nonsense sports car designed to get you from Point A to B without any distractions. A staple for many competitive runners for years, the Launch is light, springy and connected to the ground. Everything you need for a fun running experience and nothing you don’t need. Great for thinner folks running shorter/quicker runs. We often recommend having a few pairs of shoes in your rotation and to use them interchangeably. This is a great complimentary shoe to your higher mileage, cushy trainer. New for 2021, they also have a support or guidance version called Brooks Launch GTS 8.
Mizuno Wave-Inspire 17
Mizuno has quietly improved their trainers and we believe they’ve gotten better each year since the Mizuno Disaster of 2014. Not known for dramatic, significant updates, the new Inspire is a subtle but noticeable improvement which will leave you smiling. They have added their new Enerzy Midsole foam to the shoe which makes it feel lighter & more alive underfoot, particularly in the rearfoot. This is a continuation of stability footwear getting lighter and less clunky over the past several years.
Hoka Arahi 5
Think of an SUV that has a ton of features borrowed from its sports car sibling. That’s the new Arahi. Although it’s a comfortable and supportive stability shoe, it has many characteristics of a neutral, sporty shoe. You’ll like the light weight, curved sole that helps “roll” your feet forward.
