Are You Up to the Challenge?
Every town should have it’s speed loop. A test. A right of passage. Why don’t we?
What started as some friendly banter among our staff has now turned into a challenge. The boys would often go out to the lake to see who could turn in the fastest time. When Ryan took Jimmy’s best known time around the circuit at Walter Fuller Park, the group text lit up. Bragging rights were earned, and the challenge is was on in earnest. There’s something fun about proving yourself on a set, known course to see how you stack up against yourself and others. A barometer of your fitness.
With that in mind, we’re starting a new challenge series to see how fast you can run one circuit of the lake loop (total distance = 1’ish kilometer) at Walter Fuller Park. Here are all of the important details:
What: ‘Take the Lake Challenge’, a virtual run hosted by St. Pete Running Company on Strava
Where: Walter Fuller Park, 7901 30th Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33710. Starting line is next to the dog park– run counter-clockwise!
Who: You! If you bring a friend to run with, we suggest social distancing. This challenge is open to everyone!
When: Complete the challenge between now and May 23rd. We will try it again later this summer to see how much you improve. Follow our Social Media for running, strength & conditioning tips to get you in top form.
Why: A bit of virtual competition is good for the soul– let’s see how fast you can ‘Take the Lake’. The fastest person gets bragging rights and Strava fame. The winner will also be celebrated with their pic on the wall in our store and a special prize pack. Tackle the loop as fast as you can run + share your performance on Instagram and Facebook using #TAKETHELAKE and by tagging @stpeterunningco.
