We’re Bringing Back One Of Our Favorite Challenges.
How about an all-out fast fiasco pull of pain and glory? One of the great events of 2020 was when we launched Take the Lake. An all-by-yourself time trial around the lake loop at Walter Fuller Park. Go as fast as you can, lay it al on the line and have fun. We’re bringing it back this June for volume 2. Bust out your lightweight shoes and get ready to lay in down once again. This time we’re doubling the challenge with a 2nd lake on tap.
Lake 1: Walter Fuller lake loop
This is a classic! Fun & challenging lake loop at Walter Fuller park has a little bit of everything in right around 1100 meters. That’s too long to be a sprint but too short to pace yourself. Last time Mike & Adrienne Zwijacz both took the top honors as fastest man and women. This time, if you’re interested in going for the title you’ll need to be using Strava’s premium service. Otherwise, here’s how it works.
1. Perform Take the Lake Loop. (Warm-up required!)
2. Take a photo of you at the lake, your watch or screen shot it from your Garmin Connect.
3. Come by the store and receive a $5 Gift card. We’ll put your polaroid up on the community board if that’s ok with you!
**As part of our Global Running Day Group Run, you have the option to KO the lake loop on our group run from our store that night. The group run starts at 6:30 PM. **
Part 2. Crescent Lake Natural Loop.
A New lake loop for 2022 takes us down 22nd Ave to the popular Crescent Lake loop. This has been run nearly 7,000 times & we’re excited to have this as part of the challenge. Run this loop of just slightly more than 1 mile and see what you can do. Be sure not to take it out too fast or you’ll pay for it at the end.
1. Run the Loop of Crescent Lake Natural Loop.
2. Take a photo of yourself, your watch or a screen shot from your Garmin Connect.
3. Drop by the store and receive a $5 Gift Card. We’ll put your photo up on the community board.
You have the option of taking 1 lake or both, your choice. For some, it’s about completion while others will have the KOM in mind. Either way it’s up to you.
Challenge commences on National Running Day, June 1st 2022. Challenge Concludes on Thursday, June 30th. You can do either lake as many times as you want throughout the month of June. If you’re interested in KOM’ing the lake you’ll want to be using Strava’s Premium Service. For the rest of us, a simple watch & selfie is sufficient enough.
