Join us for The St. Pete Mile! Whether you're looking to run your first ever mile or you're trying to crush your personal best, this is for you! Last year was a HUGE success, and we're making it even better this year. This is friendly, laid back, inclusive and above all it's FUN!
St. Pete Mile
We meet on a Friday Night under the lights on the Track on June 7th at Northside Christian School (Address: 7777 62nd Ave North in St. Pete). The Run Distance is 1 mile. 
The cost to register is $10. The event commences at 6:45. There will be multiple heats of the mile so participants can run with people of comparable speed.

6:45 - Kids FREE 1 Lap - 400 Meters
6:55 - Kids FREE 1 Mile
7:15 - Believe Mile - 12:00 - 15:00 pace
7:35 - Achieve Mile - 9:00 - 12:00 pace
7:50 - Moxie Mile - 7:00 - 9:00 Pace
8:00 - Championship Mile Female - Under 7:00 minute pace ($50 for the top female)
8:10 - Championship Mile Male - Under 7:00 minute pace
($50 for the top male)
8:25 - Pace Your Race - Estimate finish time & closest finisher wins $50. This Race is open for everyone of all abilities to participate.

-$1 for every mile run will go to benefit the Athletic Department of Northside Christian School.
- This event is for runners of all abilities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q - Do I have to be fast or experienced to do this?

A - No! Our events and programming are for people of all abilities and paces.

Q - What if I'm not that fast?

A- We group participants into pace groups so you will run with people of your approximate speed. Example: All the people who run 8:30 per mile will be seeded in the Moxie Mile which is for those who run 7:00-9:00 pace. You won't be racing against someone looking to run 4:30.

 

Q - Will there be medals?

A - No, but you can take lots of pictures and catalog your experience on social media. This keeps your cost down and doesn't take up space in your closet.

Q - How do I know what pace I run?

A - We recommend timing yourself for a practice mile and using that. We also have track training on Wednesday mornings at 5:30 AM and Wednesday nights at 6:30 PM at Northside Christian Track. Training on a track can help you understand approximately what pace you'll be able to run during the race.

Q - Can my kids run this?

A - YES! Kids 12 & Under can participate for free! Children are our future and they deserve a healthy and active lifestyle. Toddlers/small children can do the 1-Lap (400 meters or 1/4 Mile) or the Kids Mile, depending on how much running they have been doing.

Q - Can I bring my dog?

A - No. We aren't allowed dogs on the track.

Q - How does Pace Your Race work?

A- Pace your race is for all participants. Even if you've run a previous mile. Before the event you'll need to predict your estimated mile finishing time. We'll hide all clocks & there's no watches for this event. The finisher who gets the closest to their estimated time will be the winner and get $50.

Four-Week 5K Group Training

Starts Sunday, December 23rd

Are you looking to improve your overall fitness or run a faster 5k?  Would you like to join a fun and supportive training group? Then we'd love to have you join our 5K Group Training!

This will be a comprehensive program for intermediate runners who want guidance and leadership to help achieve your goal. You don't have to be signed up for a race to join this group. All are welcome to come out and train with this fun and inclusive group!

Our expert staff will lead you through these training sessions where we'll help you not only improve your running technique, but you'll improve overall efficiency and learn how to prevent injury. One of the best aspects of group training is the camaraderie and encouragement from like-minded people. The optional goal race is the St. Pete Running Company 5k at the St Pete Beach Classic on Saturday, January 19th.


Cost: $79.99 (Limited to 25 spots)
You'll get a 10% Discount in our store for the duration of the program, our on-site Athletic Trainers will provide you with a free one-on-one injury prevention screening, and you'll receive free products from Gatorade Endurance. 

 

Here is the tentative schedule for the 5K Training Sessions: 

Start date of the program is Sunday, December 23rd

Monday, 6:30 PM: (Store) Dynamics, easy running, core + foam rolling.

Wednesday, 5:30 AM or 6:30 PM: (track) Core + Speedwork.

Thursday, 6:30 PM: (Store) Dynamics, recovery slow run, core strength (Optional Day)

Sunday, early morning: (Store or various locations) Long Run.

Five-Week Bridge Run Training

Are you looking to improve your overall fitness? Bridge and hill training is for you! If you're signed up for the Skyway 10K, this training group is for you! (Please note we are not affiliated with the race). You don't have to be signed up for a race to join this group. All are welcome to come out and train with this fun and inclusive group!

Our expert staff will lead you through these training sessions where we'll help you not only improve your running technique, but you'll improve overall strength and efficiency on hills and bridges.

Cost: $49.99 for 5 Weeks

Drop in rate: $15 per workout session

If you register for the whole program you will receive 10% Discount in store purchases until March 5. You'll get a 10% Discount in our store for the duration of the program, our on-site Athletic Trainers will provide you with a free one-on-one injury prevention screening, and you'll receive free products from Gatorade Endurance.

This 5 week session will start January 27th and end on February 24th, the week before the Skyway 10k. The official dates for each session are Jan 27th, Feb 3, Feb 10th, Feb 17th, Feb 24th. The location will vary with each session, but there will be hills and/or bridges at each one! Each workout is different and will focus on a specific skill for hill running guaranteed to improve your fitness and do so without causing injury to your body.

ST. PETE RUN FEST BELIEVERS ACHIEVERS: CASEY, KRISTIE, TIFFANY December 18, 2018 15:44

St. Pete Run Fest Believers & Achievers

You've followed their journeys as they prepared for St. Pete Run Fest. Now they've completed the race and they've come out stronger on the other side.

We're following up with Casey, Kristie, and Tiffany to find out how their races went, and if they reached their goals.

As a refresher, Casey recovered from a severe accident where he was hit by a car four months before St. Pete Run Fest, Kristie has replaced former addictions with healthy habits, and Tiffany suffered a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) which has left her legally blind.

They Believed & Achieved!

Casey

Casey completed the 3 Daughters St. Pete Half Marathon at St. Pete Run Fest. Although he didn't set a Personal Record, he ran an impressive race and placed 8th Overall!

The result: He Did It!

For Casey, the best part was running the Dolphin Double so that he could join his son's first 5K race, and having his wife and kids cheering him on at both races. After surgeries and recovering from the accident, he's so happy to have been able to do his best and enjoy such a beautiful city run along the waterfront. Plus he finished 8th place overall! Which is quite a feat four months after a severe car accident. He highly recommends Run Fest.

Casey's Advice: "I took every chance I could to high five fellow runners, smile, and embrace the atmosphere RunFest provides. And pace yourself early. Keep in mind the race is very flat overall, but as you "climb" away from the water toward the Trop, there is a long gradual incline, which can come back to get you later on in race. Other than that, make sure you enjoy the incredible view and smile, it makes it hurt less..."

 

Kristie

Kristie completed the Rollin' Oats Trop 10K at St. Pete Run Fest. Her goal was to finish the race.

The result: She Did It!

For Kristie, the best part was having everyone around her believe in her until she believed in herself. That was empowering. She thought she was going to do the 5K and had no idea if she'd be able to finish the 10K or not. But she did it! It was the first time she'd made a decision to do something and and follow it through to the end. And she felt amazed at all she accomplished. Having the women from her St. Pete Free Clinic residence out there right at the end, cheering on, showing up, was just incredible for her.

 

Tiffany

 

Tiffany completed the 3 Daughters St. Pete Half Marathon at St. Pete Run Fest. She had a goal of beating the time she got last year, and getting a time under 2 hours.

The result: She Did It!

For Tiffany, the best part was challenging herself and discovering that she could dream it and achieve it! Her goal was to better her time from last year, and she did it! With hard work and perseverance, Tiffany has been able to overcome obstacles to run the race she set out to do. Overall, the race went great for her and she'd recommend it to anyone who is thinking about running at St. Pete Run Fest next year.

Tiffany's Advice: "Give it your all and do your best!"

BELIEVERS ACHIEVERS OF ST. PETE RUN FEST: TIFFANY November 20, 2018 10:44

 

Meet Believer Achiever Tiffany

No one expects to suffer a life-altering injury, but that's what happened to Tiffany, who is now legally blind.

As a Believer Achiever, Tiffany has a "Never Give Up" attitude that pushes her along no matter what obstacles face her. Her goal is to complete the St. Pete Run Fest Half Marathon and beat the time she got last year.

Overcoming Adversity

Tiffany faces major challenges each and every day because of a TBI (traumatic brain injury) which led to her becoming legally blind.

A former gym owner, Tiffany was training for an upcoming Muay Thai fight. At the end of a session, she passed out and was taken to the hospital where doctors discovered a cerebral hematoma.
After brain and eye surgery, Tiffany's sight became very limited to the point where she is legally blind. "It's like seeing through a straw," she explains. That makes it difficult to run, and her balance and coordination is off, so everyday tasks have gotten harder. She has dealt with losses in short term memory and long term memory.

When You Believe, You Achieve

When Tiffany was younger, she ran track in school. A friend suggested she join St. Pete Running Company's Track Program, which involves a coached workout on the track at Northside Christian School. She fell in love with the program and the people. Week after week, she continues to come out to Wednesday Track Night. One fellow runner even held Tiffany's hand when the sun started setting to assist in guiding her steps as it got dark.

Tiffany stays active in as many ways as she can. A former personal trainer, her love for working out helps her maintain a healthy routine. At home, she has written her own workouts and completes what she sets out to do. About three times a week, her mom drops her off at the beginning of a trail where she's able to run the familiar route by herself or with a friend. On occasion, friends have taken her to the gym for a workout, and she's been able to participate in a spin class once a week.
As St. Pete Run Fest approaches, Tiffany is well prepared to face the challenge and hopes to better her Half Marathon time.

 

Tiffany's Advice

"Never stop! And live in the moment. I'm motivated by life in general and have always been a very physical person. I continue to try to improve both physically and mentally every day. My advice to others is to join in the events with St. Pete Running Company. They will always make you feel welcome."
