Premier Run & Fit and St Pete Running Company Announce Partnership
Premier Run & Fit Opens Physical Therapy and Performance Studio Inside St. Pete Running Company
May 2, 2015, St. Petersburg, FL – Locally owned Premier Run & Fit announced today that it will build a running and athlete Physical Therapy and performance studio inside St. Pete Running Company at 6986 22nd Ave N., St. Petersburg, FL 33710. Run & Fit will be open to clients on June 15.
Dr. Eric Schweitzer, Board Certified Doctor of Physical Therapy, will own and operate Premier Run & Fit, seeing patients twice weekly on Mondays and Thursdays and will extend hours if needed. Dr. Schweitzer is also the owner of Clearwater physical therapy practice Premier Physical Therapy and Sports Performance. He will continue to see patients at Premier Physical Therapy as well.
Dr. Schweitzer has practiced for more than 15 years and specializes in physical therapy for runners and athletes. He himself is a marathon runner and triathlete and an active participant in the Pinellas County running community.
“Runners and athletes are often given misguided advice, and 75 percent suffer an injury every year. Combining our two areas of expertise in running will assist us in providing the best care possible to our running and athletic community.”
St. Pete Running Company just had their 1 year anniversary and has quickly become an integral part of the running community. In addition to their extensive retail selection, they conduct classes and workshops, and offer their StrideSmart Fitting Process that provides a comprehensive fitting experience that addresses customer’s entire stride, from head to toe.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Eric. The reality is that runners get injured, and we feel having a guy of his caliber in our facility treating people is a no-brainer. Dr. Eric provides a highly unique service and having him as a resource will only help fuel an already booming St. Pete running and triathlon scene. It only makes sense to have the person who was voted Tampa Bay's best Physical Therapist treating people at one of America's best running stores. As soon as we started talking to him about this opportunity, we knew it would give our customers everything they needed to improve their athletic ability,” said Cody Angell of St. Pete Running Company.
The addition of Dr. Schweitzer’s Premier Run & Fit practice will give customers an unprecedented running science experience rarely found in a retail environment. Dr. Schweitzer will offer physical therapy and performance enhancement to runners and athletes, using active release, manual therapy, corrective exercises and other tools to retrain movements to eliminate pain or increase output. He will also offer special events such as classes and workshops.
“I wanted to work with St. Pete Running Company because it has a genuine feel to it. They are runners and get it. Anyone who’s been in there can tell you they are very good at what they do. Plus, they offer the "stride smart" system of shoe fitting which I recommend and have personally benefited from,” said Dr. Schweitzer.
“I am thrilled about this opportunity. Running is a huge part of my life – from my career to my fitness to my social life – and now I’m able to make even more of an impact on the running community. I just think it’s an exciting partnership for me, St. Pete Running Company and our clients.”
